Idiot Proof?!?!?

People may never be as clever as you

When working online it soon became apparent that maybe not everybody is as computer literate as me. I realised this when I watched my dad try and sell something on eBay. He struggled yet it all seemed pretty obvious to me.

I watch young people on a computer and they are flying along and many of them can type a hell of a lot quicker than me and I am often asking my younger cousins how to do something in word or excel, yet because I work on the internet people assume you are a computer whizz!!

I had a customer of mine say that he could not log in onto his website and so I checked his password and re sent him it just in case he had got it wrong. I sent him

RETEJN

and he said he was putting in

retejn

I said you need to do it like this

RETEJN (UPPER CASE)

he said why did it not just say upper case? I was baffled but then it came apparent that maybe it was not that obvious.

You see when you are building a site whether it is a niche site you need to assume the user has never used a computer before and you need to literally take them by the hand and lead them. This sounds obvious but you do actually have to explain every single step of the way.

So the next ebook you write make sure you try and make it idiot proof.
